my babies are growing up

the other morning when jude woke up, it was earlier than I would have liked. A ripe old time of 8. ha! yes that is much earlier than i would have liked. Brady was at the gym so it was up to me to be a mom and get my child out of his crib. Every morning he yells from his crib. "mommy i'm awake?" and then quickly he knows that I won't be the hero to get him out so he says, "oh daddy!! i'm awake?"  very pleasant this one.

So this particular morning I picked him and brought him into bed with me. Instantly he says, "I want daddy's cereal". meaning, i'm starving and feed me. Because i wasn't ready to get up, I stalled telling him a story about how when he was little I would bring him in bed with me...yada yada. i went on and on and on just making it as long as I could so I could stay lying down that much longer. When i was finished with the story, jude quickly said, "good story mommy". he being all serious and sincere. Oh how could I not get up and get him cereal now.

Theo is growing so much bigger. To me anyway. It is pretty apparent these days that he is special needs. When we went to Charleston, and people saw him and his age, they would say, "oh he is so small for 7 weeks". So we nicely tell them he has down's syndrome and it makes sense in their eyes. There is nothing I love more however, that to hold and snuggle and have his sweet little 7 lb 9 ounces lay on my chest.

Despite all the issues and heartache that having a down's baby is, the positive is I get to have a newborn for 7 weeks thus far! a newborn in the sense that he is limp and sleepy and soo cuddly. he still sleeps all the time. But when he is awake, oh those eyes. Man he has my heart. My second heart. Jude has my first one, theo has my other one.

we recently went to charleston, south carolina with our friends, the Penas. Actually it was pretty funny how it turned out. Brady was out of town and I thought it was be a fantastic idea for me to take both boys and drive to Pilly to Courtney and Christians house ALONE. Fat chance. I was running around like mad trying to get out of the house on wednesday. I planned for noon and barely left at 4 ha! right on time. Our car had died and I needed to get it jumped. And as smart as I am, USAA jumped our car and then i turned it off. I called her back and she flat up charged me $20 for her own personal needs! How dare she. Anyway, so i get to philly and they were thinking of leaving around 6. Well, Pena's are just like I am. Maybe running a tad bit behind schedule. One of the reasons we are so nicely fit for one another. We finally leave around 9 and end up at her parents house in DC @ around 1130. That was fine. So next day.....we played around and wanted to leave around 8 isn so the kids would sleep in the car for our 8 hour ride. Christian loads up the car yada yada goes to start it and it is dead! No fear, USAA will come! I call them and they come and jump it. We all get in, pi's on, buckled in, driving down the road when the TV turns on and off and the lights are flashing and it is jerking. What?! Something with the fuse. Christian turns around and USAA reliably comes back again! He suggests we don't drive the car. So we pull back in, prop the boys in front of the boob tube and think. Christian calls Courtneys uncle and we end up driving their car and getting in (by the skin of christians half open eyes) @ 545 ish. Phew. It was a great time. We went for Sara Jayne and Robyn 's marathon. We cheered them on, walked around and just had the best time! They are some of our greatest friends. Dearest souls I would dare say.  jude had a hoarse voice almost the entire trip. And it was a bit cold but we still managed to get a family picture on the beach.
